Figaro (The Days of Madness)

A life condemned to eternal disarray

Launched of the shoulder of mediocrity

Structured to produce hollow entities

A nation created to be a solid illusion

It’s foundation immersed in the putrid notion of being a democracy

In this business transaction

Between the elites

The common man is commonly placed

As the priorities of these forerunners involves personal enrichment alone

We are left in trenches

Our hope fortified by the wakening abyss

The situation seemly abysmal

“We have become a queer mixture of the East and the West, out of place everywhere, at home nowhere~Jawaharlal Nehru”

But for how long must we only wait?

For even the signs of the end time have become manifest !

Do we rely on the afterlife for our placement and justice ?

Must the peoples cause be left out when consideration occurs ?

The hands of the clock betrays us !

Age only seems to be catching up to death

As our youthful vigor departs

We are transported to the harshness of this world with out a clue as to what our purpose or function maybe

We are just statistical figures and are collateral damage in the war of the gods

The intentions of the naive man

His readiness to support a cause

A puppet stringed by the masters

A pawn digested by the system

The gods play monopoly

While we provide the labour

Our forces are week

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth~Matthew 5:5 (NIV)”

Not in this generation

Our chances ever so bleak and mundane

Our Attitude of longing

Now replaced with a spirit of settlement

Agreeing to survive

To manage limited resources

This pains me

I am angered in my marrow

I still pray for a better tomorrow

But wishful thinking is never enough

It creates disparity and so does wishful thinking

“The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous. Hierarchical society is only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance. This new version is the past and no different past can ever have existed. In principle the war effort is always planned to keep society on the brink of starvation. The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects and its object is not the victory over either Side , but to keep the very structure of society intact~by George Orwell”

I am lost !!!

  1. Good stuff Oddy, I needed some stimulant to navigate the gruelling flow of living in Gidi. This pen of a sage, spills truth on the pane…painful, riveting, yet therapeutic.

    Here are my favourite lines;

The hands of the clock betrays us !

Age is catching up with death

    As our youthful vigor departs

It is always good to keep in mind that time is swift and youth is transient. Make hay while its sunny.

  2. things could not be better analyzed…its a shame a lot of our contemporaries are way to engrossed in short term vanities to notice that pieces of their future are being stolen from them everyday

  3. Macfoy, lovely piece.
“They know not, neither will they understand,… all the foundations of the earth are out of course…”
The ‘gods’ are not to blame on this one. Lust and pride have fueled the inferno eating mankind up. “When the wood is taken away the fire goes out”

Ps: The Abuja Literary Society is still waiting for you.

  4. “The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous. Hierarchical society is only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance.” all we should be fighting for…im proud of you.
