Deterrent

“And when the hourglass has run out, the hourglass of temporality,
when the noise of secular life has grown silent and its restless or ineffectual activism has come to an end,
when everything around you is still, as it is in eternity, then eternity asks you and every individual in these millions and millions about only one thing: whether you have lived in despair or not.”

The walls seem to get smaller with each passing day
The elephant in the room is scared of the mouse; confidence is lacking
Things that never seemed to matter now hold weight as the roof starts collapsing
Giving room to only drips of regret that trickle down

This house of cards fall like a Stacks of dominos
Friends depart as the situations becomes more complicated
Emptiness is not a known ally but sticks around
The doors are wide open, but only sorrow walks through

The price tag does not ensure pleasure and soThere must be more to life than this
Nothing seems to be enough, material possessions don’t give lasting bliss anymore
Boxes of red shoes lay by the bedside, but all we feel is emptiness
As places to where them to are all paved with liquid envy and dimes

Value for value nothing has value enough to be worth it’s salt
The taste of solid food is not strong enough to pacify the pains of weight gain
The sadness drives through without any invitation
Glory days are just reruns, a past that is now lost under layers of lipids

The masters of this land hold us to ransom with their condemnation of free thing
The right to exist is not a right but a gift given with a condition
The bearer of good news demands a fee, extortion costs us all
No joy is derived from running a business; the risk out ways the gain

Relationships become burdens as the prepaid system has been introduced to love
Not being able to provide for a spouse makes mice of mighty men
The elephant although loaded with size and intimidation lacks the mouses intelligence
The only problem is this: the woman has no vision as she only sees that In front of her

My only source of solace comes from this thought:
“When you close your doors, and make darkness within, remember never to say that you are alone, for you are not alone; nay, God is within, and your genius is within. And what need have they of light to see what you are doing?”

  1. I’m so inspired… Amazing what we miss n generally fail to see in people, cos we’re too busy looking at face value…I am spurred to do/be, live above the Nigerian factor. A great tool you have here
