On this day of independence, Nigeria’s plight,
A nation’s spirit, a solemn fight.
Our timelines quiet, a sober tone,
Have we surrendered, is our hope overthrown?
The good people, the everyday man,
Have they lost faith in our noble plan?
To serve our fatherland with love and strength,
But heroes turned villains, the nation’s at length.
Subjugated by labor, the price paid in blood,
Yet some still hope, in the name of the good.
With hearts and might, they’ll strive to be,
The saviors of a nation, from trials set free.
Poverty, corruption, tribal divide,
Insecurity looms, like an ominous tide.
Yet we hold on, with faith and might,
To save this nation, bring it to the light.
Happy Independence, Nigeria, we say,
May your future be bright, on this historic day.
